In Norse mythology, Huginn (from Old Norse "thought") and Muninn (Old Norse "memory"or "mind") are a pair of ravens that fly all over the world, Midgard, and bring the god Odin information. Additionally among the Norse, Raven banner standards were carried by such figures as the Jarls of Orkney, King Canute the Great of England, Norway and Denmark, and Harald Hardrada. The ravens of European mythology are invariably messengers, or an alternate shape for various deities and spirits. Ravens were also connected with the Valkyries.
